35. Aayarpaadi Maaligaiyil - Melodious and blissful Krishna Gaanam

35. Aayarpaadi Maaligaiyil - Melodious and blissful Krishna Gaanam

As few of you already know and follow the daily Sri Aandal Paasurams  in English : http://timeisthemaster.blogspot.in/  and in Tamil :http://kalathinkatalai.blogspot.in/ I'm compiling during this month of Maargazhi .. while completing the post for day 5.. i got reminded of a lovely rendering of one and only SPB composed by Late M S V written by Kaviyarasu Kannadasan - yes the anthem of Krishna songs in Tamil  "Sri Krishna Gaanam." -"Aayar paadi Maligayil"

Sri Krishna Gaanam, is said to be a stand alone track which does not feature in any movies. This was recorded for an audio company in a very short span of time right from the composition to the lyrics and recording. were done in few hours is what I'm informed from an interview .Every song is a gem and a master piece. Its a standing example of excellence at work. The whole album, has around eight songs rendered by the leading artists ..the album follows through a grammar .Each and every song captures various stories as metaphors from Srmad Bagavada and Mahabharatha ..any one who listens to these songs is sure to have goose bumps for two reasons one for the music whether you understand the language or not and other for the meaningful and soulful lyrics when you understand the language, Here is a quick short note on each of the song, as  I always say this is an attempt of a layman to write upon a glorious piece of work and description is subjected to limitedness of my awareness and not of the great work rendered by the legends.

01.Guruvayooruku Vaarungal - sung by Smt P Susheela .. the song captivates the day to day events of Guruvayoor and one can experience the Guruvayoor seeveli by listening to the song..the fragrance of ghee and warmth will fill the air when the singer chants Narayana - Narayana- Hari Hari Narayana Narayana.

02.Pullanguzhal Kodutha Moongilgaley - Sung By TMS..one of the very famous songs of the album .. highlights the beauty of Lord Krishna with a metaphors of nature and alikes..! simply astounding

03.Gopiyarey Gopiyarey - Sung by Smt L R Eswari, is a lively folk - gummi paatu which calls the damsel of Ayarpadi to sing and dance praising Lord Krishna in various forms..it captures various miracles performed by Sri Krishna in Aayarpaadi

04.Aayarpaadi Maaligaiyil - Sung by S PB-- which was the beginning point of this post..once the play list started .. i felt the entire album is wonderful that it would be unfair to just pick only one song..A lovely lullaby which must have drawn me to doze has kindled me to blog about the whole album...

05. Gokulathil Oru Naal Raadhai : Sung by Smt P Susheela again a song highlighting romance and Oodal between the lovers. The song is elevated to the greatest level with the amazing tabla work and narration written by Kaviyarasar

06. Gokulathil Pasukal ellam : Sung by Smt S Janaki.. highlights the abundance in Ayarpaadi because of lord krishna...

07.Kothayin Thirupaavai :  Sung by Sri Veeramani is song welcoming Lord Krishna and narrates the beauty of Lord Krishna's arrival with set of metaphors of nature and instances of Srimad Bagavada and Mahabharatha

08.Amarajeevitham Swami Amudha Vaahanam: Sung by MSV himself and what a way to wrap up the album with divine OM lingering through out in Mridangam and takes to a level of serenity..At the outset if one listens it would appear like a random sprinkling of lyrics across the song but its actually  a well written chain of sanskrit verses customized in Tamil album

In Short, this is the anthem of Sri Krishna songs in Tamil and has been invariably part of all Sri Krishna Jayanthi celebrations all around and considering the age of the song and it remains as young and lively its for sure it would be there forever for another century.

Sarvam Krishnaarpanam.!!!
